Terms of Service

The ground rules for your little word journeys.

Last updated: 1 November 2026

Who runs LetterTrip

LetterTrip, including lettertrip.app and the mobile game, is operated by André Valentin in Denmark. In these terms, ‘we’ means André Valentin and ‘you’ means the person using LetterTrip. You can reach us through the contact form linked on this page.

Your account

By creating an account, including through Apple or Google, you agree to these terms. Accounts are for people aged 13 or older. If you are under the age of legal majority, you must have a parent or guardian’s permission where required by the law that applies to you.

You may try the game as a guest. An account lets you save and use your journey across devices. Give accurate account information, keep your sign-in details secure and do not use another person’s account without permission. Contact us if you believe your account has been misused.

Playing fairly

Use LetterTrip for lawful, personal enjoyment. Do not attempt to access other players’ data, bypass security, interfere with the service, automate abuse, manipulate rewards or use offensive or misleading usernames. These restrictions do not limit activities that applicable law permits, including protected security research.

The game and its content

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use the game while you follow these terms. The game’s artwork, software and other protected content remain owned by their respective rights holders. You may share postcards using the game’s sharing feature. Other copying, sale or redistribution requires permission unless the law or an applicable open-source licence allows it.

Stars and other in-game rewards have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for money and do not give you ownership of the service.

Optional purchases

Your first country is free. Completing a country earns one credit for another country, once per country across languages and resets. LetterTrip offers separate one-time purchases for individual countries, ad-free play and All destinations, where available. There is no subscription. An individual country purchase grants permanent access to that country; its stops open through normal play. All destinations grants access to all countries and lets you start at every stop. Neither purchase solves puzzles, awards stars or postcards, or removes ads. Ad-free is a separate purchase. The store shows the price, currency and applicable taxes before you confirm. Purchases can be restored through the same store account. Refunds and offer codes are handled through the store; refunded or revoked purchases may lose access. Mandatory consumer rights remain unchanged.

Progress, updates and availability

We aim to keep your progress safe, but internet connections, devices and services can fail. Offline discoveries sync when a connection is available. Guest progress may be difficult to recover if you lose access to the guest session or device. Resetting a journey and deleting an account have different effects; read the confirmation shown in the game.

We may update puzzles, features and supported devices, and may pause the service for maintenance or security. We do not promise uninterrupted access or that every feature will remain unchanged. Where reasonably possible, we will give notice of material changes or discontinuation and explain what happens to saved accounts.

Privacy and external services

Our Privacy Policy explains the data used to operate the game. Acknowledging that policy is not consent to optional advertising or tracking. Apple, Google, app stores and services you choose when sharing postcards have their own terms and privacy policies. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.

For an iOS app downloaded from the App Store, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also governs the app licence. These service terms do not replace that agreement or reduce your rights under it.

Leaving or suspending an account

You can stop playing at any time and delete a registered account in the app’s account area or the website’s profile settings. You can also contact us about deletion. Uninstalling the app does not itself delete the server account.

We may restrict an account when reasonably necessary to address a serious breach of these terms, abuse, security risks or a legal obligation. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and give you a way to contact us about the decision. Urgent protective action may be taken before notice.

Your legal rights

Nothing in these terms excludes mandatory consumer rights, data-protection rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable or for failures outside our reasonable control. This does not limit liability for fraud, intentional wrongdoing or gross negligence.

Danish law applies, without taking away mandatory protections or access to courts available to consumers under the law of their country of residence. Contact us first if there is a problem so we can try to resolve it; this does not restrict your right to seek legal remedies.

Changes to these terms

The date above identifies this version. We will make updated terms available here and give reasonable notice of material changes. If a change requires your agreement, we will ask for it before applying it to you. Changes do not retrospectively remove rights you already have.
